We hope this will be the first step in a partnership that will last right through until the end of your child’s ‘Primary Phase’ of education (Year 6, when your child is 11 years old). We are very pleased to welcome you to our Teacher-Led Nursery setting hosted onsite as part of a Nursery and Reception Unit situated within the school building.
Having opened in September 2024, we aim to provide your child with a rich mix of play-based learning opportunities that harness the ample outside learning spaces that we are lucky enough to have access to at our school. We not only have a Forest School site behind the school but access to EYFS playground / learning area, large school field, outdoor classroom and woodland area to the front of the school. Our setting utilises these spaces daily to enrich the learning of all the children it caters for.
Little Hedgehogs Nursery runs for children age 3 upwards, term time only. Please refer to the school calendar for term dates. (NB On occasion there are inset days when the school and nursery are closed. Also, on the last day of every full term, ie Christmas, Easter and Summer, there is an early finish at 2pm.)

We operate a ‘Key Worker’ system. This means your child will be assigned a member of staff who they are linked to and who becomes the key person that you liaise with regards to daily care and learning. This will not always mean that they are taught or supported by the same person as we will rotate staff to ensure all children are well known and understood by all.

We run a waiting list for Little Hedgehogs that is updated regularly. Once you confirm you would like your child to join our Nursery and you have submitted your Parent Declaration for Early Education Funding (EEF), and you have booked your required sessions, you will need to sign and return one copy of the Terms of Provision, keeping the other copy for your information.
A home visit will be arranged for Mrs Wallin and either Mr Brearey (Head) or Mr Pullen (Head of School) to visit you and your child in the home setting. This will then be followed by an initial transition session for your child to attend. Following this, your child will start on whatever basis we agree between home and school for the smoothest possible transition into our setting.
