The PTFA organises and runs events throughout the year to raise funds for the school. Anyone who is either a parent of a pupil at Bridstow School, a teacher at the school or a friend of someone at the school (this could be grandparents, parents of a former pupil, a past pupil themselves or anyone interested in helping the school) can join.
An effective and active PTFA is a very important part of our school community. It helps to raise essential funds for school projects, organises and puts on suitable money-raising events and activities as well as bringing parents and friends of the school together.
In recent years the PTFA has raised considerable funds and has commissioned the building of a beautiful bespoke outdoor classroom as well as funding a trip for the whole school to the West Midlands Safari Park for a ‘Christmas Experience’.
Every year there is a Christmas Fair and a Summer Fete, which are the two main fundraising events. In between these, there are numerous smaller events such as Bingo Nights, Beetle Drives and Fun Evenings. The PTFA also runs the school's "100 Club". Members of the PTFA also help the school staff to run the Christmas Disco and Lunch, including the visit from Father Christmas.
There are annual elections of a Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary as these positions are needed by law. The people in these positions usually serve 2 years but may step down after 1. Most people who join the PTFA come to meetings, which are usually held in the hall, and help out with planning and decision-making. No-one is pressured into doing more than they can or wish to. The PTFA appreciates that many parents work and cannot commit to giving regular or large amounts of time and therefore welcomes any involvement from parents, however small.
